Benefits
from feeding dried fish.
Since dried
fish is 100% natural and have all the great nutrients
a fresh fish has it is an excellent food source for humans and dogs
with many benefits.
Fish is recognized
as having health benefits, due to the omega-3 fatty acids
it contains. In particular, it helps reduce the risk of heart attacks,
keeps the circulation healthy and even provides help for those suffering
from arthritis.
Fish offer
high-quality protein with fewer calories than a
similar-sized portion of meat. For example, 100 gram of dried fish
has 80 gram of protein, 100 grams ground of beef has about 18 grams.
But, for a 100 gram serving, the fish will have only about 300 calories,
while the regular ground beef will have about 700 calories. Is
protein good or bad?
Fish are low in sodium and are good sources of
potassium, vitamins, and other
minerals.
Fish are generally low in cholesterol and saturated fats,
which have been associated with high blood pressure and heart disease.
Clean
teeth.
Dried fish is hard (softer than bones) making it a great "cleaning
tool" for dog's teeth. The chewing motion to break the fish
apart cleans the teeth and removes tartar.
If your
dog is older and has been fed dried or soft foods all it's life,
the teeth maybe sensitive to hard foods. In this case just put the
fish in water for some hours and it will soften up. If left in water
long enough the fish will eventually return to it's original form
and become very close to fresh fish.
This is one of the methods used to eat the fish that dates back
to the Viking era. This reversed process is called "Lutefisk"
at is a favorite delicatessen in Norway and a common part of the
Christmas food menu. In Italy this is considered a delicatessen.
Dried fish
has been consumed by humans and pets (dogs and cats) for 100s of
years in Norway. Dogs that frequently eat dried fish seems to enjoy
better health, shiny coat and live longer.
